The Samurie
Related to country: Japan

The Samurie is the most popular TV serial in Japan at Fuji Terivi. Eventhoug I can not understand Japanese totally but I also watch everday. I am impressed to see the power of sword to establish ethics, morlity and good governance.

Japanese warriors, Samurie was famous members of the military class in ancient japanese society. They were supposed to lead their lives according to the ethic code of bushido ("the way of the warrior"). Strongly Confucian in nature, Bushido stressed concepts such as loyalty to one's master, self discipline and respectful, ethical behaviors. They employed a range of weapons such as bows and arrows, spears and guns, but never attack from backside. The braves were attendant of king and life devoted for absolute love, absolute faith and obedience. There was a ritual, after defeat they did commited suicide (seppuku) by cutting abdomen rather than being captured or dying a dishonorable death.

The samurai system was continue since Heian Period (794-1185) to Edo Period (1603 - 1868). `According to the Edo Period's official hierarchy of social castes, the samurai stood at the top, followed by the farmers, artisans and merchants. All samurai were forced to live in castle towns and received income from their lords in form of rice. Masterless samurai were called ronin and caused minor troubles during the early Edo Period. In 1868, Japan's feudal era came to an end, and the samurai class was abolished. True Samurie system yet respect by Japanese, and glorify in cultural events for their honesty and devortion.
