Relaunch of www.banglarights.net, the website of Bangladesh Human Rights Network
|
Bangladesh Human Rights Network launched www.banglarights.net, the country’s first web portal on human rights and media activism, in February 2001. The website went on to participate at the WorldInformation.org conference held in Brussels in the same year, as one of the three international sites selected for discussion by an international group of NGOs, media and activist organizations.
Three years onwards, we have re-launched the Banglarights website in a user-friendly, online database format. The new site deals with a wider range of issues and provides more thorough discussion of human rights in Bangladesh and around the world.
As a voluntary organisation, BHRN welcomes organisations to join as partners and individuals as members and contributors to Banglarights. Through discussion, information sharing and innovative use of the media in activism, we hope to build Banglarights as a significant platform for human rights reform in Bangladesh and beyond.
.................
The Bangladesh Human Rights Network (BHRN) is an independent platform for media professionals and activists who believe in a society that is respectful of the rights of all its members. The platform forms indigenous criteria for human rights practices, taking into account the realities of majority world countries. It champions principles of democracy, in order to give voice to people at grassroots levels and address social inequalities and domination at national and international levels.
